SG Child Support Package 2027: What Every Parent Gets
The SG Child Support Package explained: $10,000 Baby Gift, $2,000 yearly Child Credits, CDA and PSEA top-ups from April 2027, and what 2026 babies get.
In this guide
The SG Child Support Package gives every Singapore Citizen child up to $62,000 in direct support from birth to age 17, the same amount whatever their birth order. It has five parts: a $10,000 Baby Gift, $2,000 a year in Child Credits from age 1 to 16, a $5,000 CDA First Step Grant, up to $5,000 in CDA co-matching, and a $10,000 top-up to the Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) at 17. It starts on 1 April 2027 and replaces the Baby Bonus and Large Families schemes.
Babies born before then are not left out. Most children aged 17 and below get at least part of the package, and babies born from 1 January 2026 to 31 March 2027 get almost all of it. Everything below is correct as at October 2026, based on official LifeSG and population.gov.sg information. Some details are still being worked out, so check LifeSG before big decisions.
The SG Child Support Package at a glance
Announced at the National Day Rally in August 2026, the package brings total direct support to almost $70,000 per child when existing MediSave and Edusave support is included.
| Component | Amount | How and when it is paid |
|---|---|---|
| Baby Gift | $10,000 cash | Two tranches within 12 months of birth |
| Child Credits | $2,000 a year, $32,000 in total | Cash, every year from the year your child turns 1 to the year they turn 16 |
| CDA First Step Grant | $5,000 | Deposited automatically into the Child Development Account |
| CDA co-matching | Up to $5,000 | Dollar-for-dollar on your savings, until the end of the year your child turns 16 |
| PSEA top-up | $10,000 | In the year your child turns 17, paid in June |
The $5,000 MediSave Grant for Newborns is separate and continues, credited to your baby’s MediSave account after birth registration.
How each part works
Baby Gift ($10,000)
The Baby Gift replaces the Baby Bonus Cash Gift. Instead of instalments spread over six and a half years, you receive $10,000 in two tranches within your baby’s first year, when costs such as infant care and nappies hit hardest. If you are putting some towards help at home, read up on fees and red flags at maid agencies first.
Child Credits ($2,000 a year)
Child Credits are the biggest part of the package: $2,000 in cash a year from the year your child turns 1 to the year they turn 16. Payouts start in April 2027, then arrive on your child’s birthday each year.
CDA First Step Grant and co-matching
The Child Development Account works much as it does now. The $5,000 First Step Grant goes in automatically once the account is opened, and the Government matches every dollar you save, up to $5,000. The big change is time: for children born on or after 1 January 2015, the CDA stays open until the end of the year your child turns 16, instead of 12. Any unused balance then moves to the PSEA. CDA money can still only be spent at approved institutions such as preschools, clinics and hospitals.
PSEA top-up ($10,000)
In the year your child turns 17, the Government adds $10,000 to their Post-Secondary Education Account, for fees at approved post-secondary institutions. Children who turn 17 in 2026 get theirs in June 2027.
Who is eligible
- Your child must be a Singapore Citizen, aged 17 or below.
- Support no longer depends on birth order.
- According to the Ministry of Social and Family Development, the package also extends to children of unmarried parents, who were previously excluded from the Baby Bonus Cash Gift.
If your child is not yet a citizen, for example because one parent is a permanent resident or foreigner, or your situation is otherwise unusual, check the LifeSG page or call the LifeSG hotline on 1800 111 2222 before assuming what you will receive.
What your child gets, by birth date

If your baby is born between January 2026 and March 2027
Your baby is enrolled in the Baby Bonus Scheme as usual when you register the birth. Cash Gift instalments continue until 31 March 2027. If less than $10,000 has been paid by then, the Government tops it up to $10,000 by 30 April 2027. Your child then moves to the new package.
Our Baby Bonus guide explains the current scheme in detail.
When the first Child Credits arrive
- 2026 Child Credits: children turning 1 to 16 in 2026 receive their 2026 payment of $2,000 by 30 April 2027, even though the year has passed.
- 2027 Child Credits: if your child’s birthday falls between January and April, you receive it by 30 April 2027. For May to December birthdays, it is paid on the birthday.
- From 2028: paid on your child’s birthday each year until they turn 16.
What happens to the Baby Bonus, Large Families Scheme and CDA caps
Baby Bonus Cash Gift
The Cash Gift ends on 31 March 2027. Children already in the Baby Bonus Scheme move over automatically in April 2027, with no need to reapply.
Large Families Scheme
The Large Families Scheme is being discontinued. The extra $5,000 CDA First Step Grant for third and later children and the $6,000 in Large Family LifeSG Credits are replaced by Child Credits, which are larger and now go to every child. The $5,000 Large Family MediSave Grant for mothers is under review. The Government has said larger families will get more help with healthcare, transport and housing, with details still to come. Our guide to the Large Families Scheme sets out what third and later children born before April 2027 receive.
CDA co-matching caps
Under the Baby Bonus, co-matching caps range from $4,000 for a first child to $15,000 for a fifth or later child. Under the new package, every child’s cap becomes $5,000 from 1 October 2027. Until 30 September 2027, you can keep saving up to your child’s existing cap.
How to prepare now
- Set up PayNow for your child. Cash payouts go to your child’s PayNow ID, which is their NRIC or birth certificate number. Log in to your bank’s app, link an account to your child’s PayNow ID and confirm with the OTP. LifeSG asks parents to do this before 1 April 2027.
- Choose the right account. Link PayNow to your child’s own savings account or a joint parent-child account, not to the CDA, which can only be used for approved expenses.
- Register the birth on LifeSG. Newborns are enrolled during birth registration, so apply for benefits in the same flow. See our guide to birth registration in Singapore.
- Keep saving in the CDA. Co-matching now runs until the end of the year your child turns 16.
- Plan where the cash goes. $2,000 a year is easy to absorb into daily spending, so decide early how much to set aside.
Other NDR 2026 changes for parents
The Rally also announced a merged childcare leave scheme of 8 to 12 days a year for parents of children aged 12 and below (start date not yet announced; see our parental leave guide), lower preschool fees of $150 a month for full-day childcare and $300 for infant care before means-testing by 2030, and extra BTO ballot chances for families with children from the February 2027 sales exercise.
The bottom line
From 1 April 2027, every Singapore Citizen child gets a $10,000 Baby Gift, $2,000 a year in Child Credits, $5,000 in the CDA with up to $5,000 more in matching, and $10,000 for post-secondary education at 17. If your baby was born in 2026 or early 2027, you still get almost everything, including a top-up to $10,000 by 30 April 2027. The most useful thing to do today is link your child’s PayNow ID to a bank account. The official SG Child Support Package page on LifeSG has the latest details, and our cost of raising a child guide shows how this support fits into a family budget.
When does the SG Child Support Package start?
It takes effect from 1 April 2027. Babies born on or after that date get the full package, and the first Child Credit payouts for older children are made from April 2027.
Do I need to apply for the SG Child Support Package?
For newborns, enrolment happens during birth registration on LifeSG. Children already in the Baby Bonus Scheme move over automatically in April 2027. You should link your child’s PayNow ID to a bank account so cash payouts can be made.
My baby was born in 2026. Will we lose out?
Very little. Your baby gets Baby Bonus Cash Gift instalments until 31 March 2027, then a top-up to $10,000 by 30 April 2027 if less has been paid, plus $2,000 Child Credits every year, a $5,000 co-matching cap and the $10,000 PSEA top-up.
Is the Large Families Scheme cancelled?
Yes, it is replaced by the SG Child Support Package from April 2027. The extra First Step Grant and Large Family LifeSG Credits end, the Large Family MediSave Grant is under review, and the Government has said larger families will get more help with healthcare, transport and housing.
